Nichols and Stone Antiquing Levels
 

Americana:  This is the true color of the stain or paint without any distressing or worn edges.  The colors are clean and clear with a higher gloss sheen finish.

Classic:   Lightly softened edges allowing slight hang-up from glaze application.  No physical distressing.

Antiquity:  This treatment is the first level of distressing where edges are worn, grooves have left over glaze like authentic antiques and the final coat is a matte sheen.

Renaissance:  This is the next level of distressing above the antiquity level with heavier level of worn edges, worm holes, more rub through, nicks and marks to simulate decades of wear and aging.

Heritage:  Heavy physical distressing with worm holes, rasping and many wear marks.
